Quick answer
Mutation Effect
Increases crop value
A mutation increases the sell value of an eligible crop by its listed multiplier, so the same seed can produce a much larger harvest.
Mutation Sources
Weather, Lightning, Pets and Worms
The source determines how the mutation is triggered: Weather affects batches, Lightning rewards timing, and Pets or Worms offer targeted routes.
Risk and Reward
Multiplier vs exposure
A higher multiplier can require more waiting or risk. Harvest when the expected payout beats another cycle's chance of losing the crop.

A mutation is a special state that increases the sell value of an eligible seed, plant or fruit. The practical effect is simple: you can make a stronger harvest without always replacing your seed with a more expensive one. Your real decision is whether the mutation's multiplier is worth the time and lightning exposure needed to secure it.
In my testing, Weather and Lightning account for the six core mutation routes I use most often. The current site dataset tracks 11 known entries, including Pet and Worm routes, so I use the live data files for the current mutation list and multipliers.
Start with the source you can control. Weather is best for planned groups of crops, Lightning rewards precise timing, and Pets or Worms give you more targeted routes than waiting for a random event.
Plant before an event, then let its associated mutation chance work across eligible crops.
Shocked and Charged depend on the tree's multiplier when a strike lands, so the reward comes with real bankruptcy risk.
Frog and Alligator are the clearest targeted routes in the current Pet Database, linking to Slimy and Scaled.
Confirmed Worm data links Lucky Dewy, Infested and Shocked variants to specific mutation or safety effects.

Weather windows are short farming opportunities. The current weather data uses a standard duration of 4 minutes 30 seconds, so plant a batch before the event starts instead of waiting until the final seconds. Leave enough plot space for the whole batch, then use the event's mutation chance to decide whether to harvest safely or continue growing.
Dewy · 2x listed multiplier
Thick fog covers the plot. High 50% chance to apply Dewy (2x) mutation.
Radioactive · 5x listed multiplier
Corrosive rain granting 1.5x growth speed and 20% chance for Radioactive (5x) crops.
Shocked / Charged · 7.5x listed multiplier
Extremely high lightning risk. Strikes trigger Shocked (2.5x) or Charged (7.5x) mutations if trees survive.
Golden · 25x listed multiplier
Rare event granting 2.5x growth speed and a 7.5% chance to trigger Golden (25x) mutation.
Cosmic · 100x listed multiplier
Ultra-rare event. Has a 2.5% chance to hit crops with the jackpot Cosmic (100x) mutation.
In my testing, activating a specific weather event from the in-game shop can be useful when that option is available. Because shop offers can change, confirm the live UI before spending Robux or planning your entire farming session around it.
Lightning mutations are the high-risk part of the mutation loop. In my testing, they depend on a narrow timing window around the tree's harvest multiplier. The current mutation data gives the simpler operating rule: Shocked is linked to a tree below 25x, while Charged is linked to a tree above 25x.
Applies a 2.5x sale value multiplier. How to get: A tree can receive Shocked when lightning strikes within 1.0x of its harvest point while its multiplier is below 25x. Example: a tree harvested at 2.0x and struck at 2.9x receives Shocked. Shocked trees can produce Shocked fruits.
Applies a 7.5x sale value multiplier. How to get: A tree can receive Charged when lightning strikes within 1.0x of its intended harvest point while its growth multiplier is above 25x. Charged trees can produce Charged fruits.
Before holding for another strike, check your tree value, protection, and expected loss in the Lightning Risk Calculator. A mutation multiplier is only useful if the tree survives long enough to be harvested.
There is no single best mutation for every farm. Choose by goal, seed cost, available protection and how much risk you can afford to lose.
Cosmic is the 100x jackpot route from Meteor Shower. It is the highest ceiling, not the easiest mutation to farm, so reserve it for a prepared high-value batch.
Golden and Radioactive offer meaningful Weather multipliers without requiring every run to hit the rarest jackpot. Use their event windows to build a repeatable cash loop.
Infested is a lower multiplier than Cosmic, but it can be more useful when a Farmer's Market order specifically asks for an Infested fruit.
Start from a source and target multiplier, then select a seed that justifies the attempt.
Plant multiple eligible seeds before a Weather window so one event has more chances to pay off.
Use the Pets, Worms and Fertilizers that match your route instead of mixing unrelated bonuses.
I recommend setting an exit point before the tree becomes valuable. Harvest when the payout beats the next-cycle risk, and do not chase Cosmic-level upside on every tree.
For growth speed and mutation odds, compare the Fertilizers Database with the weather route you want. For a high-value crop, protecting the harvest is usually more profitable than holding blindly for one more strike.
Use this guide for decisions, then open the complete Mutation Database for the current multiplier, source, trigger chance and difficulty tier of every entry.

Cosmic is the best mutation for maximum multiplier because it is listed at 100x. Golden, Charged, and Radioactive can be better farming targets when you want a stronger balance between payout and availability.
Choose a mutation source first. Weather Events can mutate eligible crops, Lightning can create Shocked or Charged trees at different multiplier ranges, and specific Pets or Worms can add mutation routes. The exact source and chance are listed in the Mutation Database.
Both are Lightning mutations. The current data links Shocked to a tree below 25x and Charged to a tree above 25x, so the key decision is whether the next strike is worth the risk of holding the tree longer.
Cosmic has the higher 100x multiplier, but its listed Meteor Shower chance is only 2.5%. Golden is 25x with a listed 7.5% Rainbow Weather chance, so Golden may produce more consistent runs even though its jackpot is smaller.
Yes. The current data links Frog to Slimy, Alligator to Scaled, Roach and Infested Worm to Infested, and Lucky Dewy Worm or Shocked Worm to their associated mutation routes. Check the live game and the linked databases because item behavior can change with updates.
Harvest when the expected payout no longer justifies another strike. For expensive trees, use the Lightning Risk Calculator, watch for shaking or thunder, and do not chase a higher multiplier without a clear protection or exit plan.
